Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am suffering from back pain and neck pain. I have had this problem for the past year, but I did not consider it a problem. So, the problem gradually increased. One day I was sleeping on a threaded bed, and from then I have this back pain and neck pain issues. I did not have neck pain when MRI was taken, but after a few days, my neck pain also increased. My MRI reports are as follows:

  1. Small schmorl's nodes were seen in D12, L1 & L2 vertebral bodies.
  2. A diffuse posterior bulge of the L5/S1 disc is seen mildly compromising the thecal sac and bilateral lateral recesses. In addition, it is causing mild compression of cauda equina nerve roots.
  3. The mild postero-centrak bulge of the D12/L1 disc is seen mildly compromising the thecal sac and indenting conus.
  4. Straightening of cervical lordosis.
  5. Mild diffuse posterior disc bulge of C5/6 disc.

I have practiced the exercises, which a doctor suggested, but these exercises are not suitable for me as told by another doctor. I do not have diabetes and blood pressure. I currently take ayurvedic medicines for one week and have had some better results.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

The MRI reports are not attached for me to see, but the reports are not confirmatory of any symptoms you mention. However, you seem to have, in general, poor posture both while sitting and in bed as well as poor muscle tone in the core muscles, whereby you are having non-specific back pain. You have mentioned pain in the legs and the nature of pain being sharp electric shooting and radiating below the knee or any numbness in the legs. With your symptoms, I would have sent you to do core strengthening exercises under supervision by a physiotherapist. I still feel you will improve if you do the exercises under supervision, look at your posture, and correct it.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
