Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a nursing mother. I have been experiencing severe itching in my private part for five days. The itching started a few hours after having intercourse with my husband. Also, my private part is sore and swollen. I had a similar complaint about ten years ago. I have recently used medications for malaria.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and would be happy to help. The itching can be due to bacterial vaginosis that got aggravated after intercourse. You will need antibiotics, analgesics, antihistamines, douching of the vagina with an antiseptic solution, and vaginal pessary for two weeks. Also, your partner will need treatment.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert in case of further questions.

Thank you.
