Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I got food stuck in my teeth couple of days back. I was not able to remove it but now I have. The food particle emitted bad odor, but now after removing that food particle that particular teeth and gum is still smelling. What does that mean? Is my gum or tooth rotting?

Hi,

Welcme to icliniq.com.

As a specialist I am here to help you. Food-lodgement is a classical sign of developing a cavity in your tooth. Foul smell can be due to fermentation of food particles in the cavity. Wether it is rotten or not will be associated with severe pain and discomfort. If possible kindly upload an image of the tooth to me and I will let you know for sure what is the condition and what needs to be done to avoid extraction (further progression of caries).

For now -:

- HiOra K Mouthwash (himalaya) will help you cleaning if any food particle left and also reduce the foul smell. Use in lukewarm water for better results.

- Colgate Pain out. Mix with cotton ball and pack over the cavity to minimize any further food lodgement.

- Zerodol SP SOS. I will be waiting for the image to decide wether filling or Root Canal will be needed for the tooth.

The Probable causes

Caries. Smell is from fermentation of food . Also if the caries progresses to pulp chamber ,it smells alot.

Investigations to be done

Kindly Upload an image of the tooth. I will assist you immediately . Any help you minimise the discomfort.

Treatment plan

Start the mouthwash. May need a simple.filling or Root Canal dependng upon the image of the tooth.

Regarding follow up

Avoid sticky or sweet food as much possible.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
