Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My hCG level was 26 today. And, I have not missed my period yet (it is supposed to start within a few days). Is that hCG level reading low?

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If you are sexually active, then your reading of hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) is of early pregnancy. If the measurement unit is mIU/ml, then it is possible that you may have conceived. It is also recommended that you please take a urine pregnancy test with the first urine of the day for accurate results. Do not drink too much fluid before your test. Adhere to all guidelines written on the package of the pregnancy test kit. Please share the outcome of the pregnancy test for further management of your menstrual health. Are you having any signs like nausea, breast tenderness, fatigue, etc.? Please share if you have any bodily changes.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Yes, I took a pregnancy test, and it is positive. I feel nauseous and tired. My doctor recommended blood tests because I had an ectopic pregnancy before. I was not sure if 26 is a low hCG level.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

26 hCG levels denote early pregnancy, and your pregnancy can be anywhere after the 11th day of conception. Please share the report if possible. You may repeat the test, say after two to three days, and you will see a great spike in the hCG level, maybe double or triple, as it increases rapidly up to around 14 weeks in most cases. You take care of your health as early pregnancy or first trimester is critical both physically and psychologically. Share the report and tell me the date of intercourse to calculate the date of conception.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
