Hello doctor,

I am taking birth control pills currently. I took all pills on time from day one of my last periods but missed the dose on the 18th day, took it with the 19th dose, and had unprotected sex the following day. Will this cause any problem?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

When you miss one dose, take two doses the next day. If you miss a dose for two days, take two drugs for the next two days. If it takes more than two days, start a new cycle. So you need not worry. If the period is missed, do take it after seven days.

But if you took the pill and had unprotected sex, then you are not safe, and you may get pregnant.

I hope you find it helpful.

Thank you and take care.
