Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had protected intercourse two months back, after which I had light spotting just after 8 days of intercourse, followed by light bleeding for 3 days. I took a pregnancy test after 8, 9, and 10 days and they were all negative. However, I bled again for the next seven days. Can I be pregnant? I have no symptoms of pregnancy yet. I only get bad burps sometimes and little dizziness too. I never had this situation earlier. This happened for the first time. Could this kind of bleeding be a symptom of pregnancy? I took Norethisterone 5 months back to postpone periods for 5 days. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern,

As per your description, this is not a sign of pregnancy, but we cannot also exclude the pregnancy by this. In the early days, the kit might show false results. It would have been better if I would have known your last menstrual date and when you had intercourse so that I could have guessed the probability of having a pregnancy.

Such bleeding could be because of hormonal imbalance, or any other pathology like an ovarian cyst, PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), or thyroid disorders. I would suggest doing USG (ultrasonography) pelvis scan and thyroid profile.

Hope this information helps you.

Thanks and take care.
