Bleeding from the nose is called epistaxis. Nosebleeds are usually caused due to trauma to the nose, and in few cases, inhalation of dry air, foreign bodies, and sinus infections. Tumor and vascular malformation are rare causes of nosebleeds. Nosebleeds can be either anterior or posterior. In anterior nosebleeds, bleeding originates from the wall between the two nostrils, and posterior nosebleeds occur where the artery supplies the blood to the nose. Nasal packing, ligation, cautery, and septal surgery are some treatment options.
