Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been experiencing a problem that seems to be genital herpes. I have noticed that during the last two months, some water-based boils emerged around lips. This has happened 3 to 4 times during this period. And these are not much painful but have a kind of burning sensation, and they disappeared after 4 to 5 days. I have searched on the internet, and as per my understanding, this may be herpes. Please advise how to treat this problem and what medications can be taken?

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for posting a query.

The information over the internet is difficult to say whether it is correct or lacking some vital data. In your case, as internet information suggested you the first possibility is Herpes simplex. Before labeling this, there must be some history of recent sexual contact as a majority of people get it through sexual transmission. If there is no such history, then the possibility of other viral and autoimmune disorders cannot be ruled out with the available information.

Suppose it is herpes and one week lasted before writing this. In that case, there is no need to take antiviral medications because they do not offer any benefit after one week in comparison to natural healing.

Please post with more details like your age, sexual history, unprotected sexual partner details, and fever history. Also, post, if any, other disorders that you encountered in the past or recent past.

For more details, you can book a consultation.

Thanks.
