Does consuming alcohol and spicy food cause stomach pain?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had stomach pain for the last two days. The pain becomes worse if I breathe or laugh strongly. I also have regular gas or burbs from the mouth. I have been on an outing and have consumed alcohol at regular intervals and spicy food for the last two days. Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The stomach pain can be most probably due to acidity and gastritis. You should avoid a fatty, oily, and spicy diet. Have some walks after having food instead of taking a rest. Avoid smoking and alcohol, if any. I suggest you take the tablet Pan DSR (Domperidone and Pantoprazole) 40 mg or Esomeprazole and Domperidone combination before breakfast once a day for a week. If not adequately relieved, then take syrup Sucral O (Sucralfate and Oxetacaine or Oxethazaine) or Gelusil (Aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and Dimethicone) two teaspoons three times a day for a week. You can take antispasmodics like the tablet Dicyclomine 20 or Hyoscine 10 mg whenever needed up to three times a day for immediate pain relief. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent. Hope this helps you.

Thank you.
