Hi doctor,
My blood group has changed from B positive to B negative. During diagnosis, it is found that my lymphocyte count is higher, which is around 54 %. I have some other problems like itching underarms and piles. My CT and PET scan report are normal. Ultrasound report shows fatty liver. Why has my blood group changed? Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Blood group never changes throughout life. I suggest you get your blood group checked in a good blood bank. One of your blood groups might be false due to a faulty technique. Hope I have answered your question. Underarm itching might be due to some allergy. I suggest you use the tablet Levocetirizine for that. For piles, I suggest you use a stool softener like Cremaffin syrup and avoid intake of spicy foods. You can attach your CBC (complete blood count) report to get it checked.
Hi doctor,
Thanks for your reply. In the past, I have donated blood and tested my blood group numerous times in different standard labs. Some shows as B positive and some shows as B negative. Please help.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
After blood transfusion as well blood group does not change. Sometimes blood banks make mistakes while differentiating positive and negative blood group systems. But you can consider a negative blood group as it is given in the majority of blood banks where you have donated blood as per history. In the attached report (attachment removed to protect the patient’s identity), SGPT (serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase) is slightly high, which is due to fatty liver. USG (ultrasound) report shows mild fatty infiltration. But do not worry about it. Fatty infiltration is very common nowadays. I suggest you restrict fast food intake and take more green leafy vegetables and do exercise. Your lymphocytes count was high. But lymphocytosis is also seen in some viral infections. You need to repeat the lymphocyte count this month. Mostly it will be normal now. Kidney function test, PET (positron emission tomography) scan, and peripheral smear reports are normal.
I hope this helps.
Hi doctor,
Thanks for your reply. I recently donated blood as B positive, but I found my blood group is B negative. My lymphocyte count was more than 47% from eight months back. It was tested after every two months. The last test was done two months back. Please help.
Hi,

If your lymphocytosis has been high for six months, it is called persistent lymphocytosis. I suggest you take a flow cytometry investigation to rule out monoclonal B cell lymphocytosis. The blood group never changes. Some of the blood banks might have made a mistake in doing blood grouping. You can visit a nearby hematologist for a physical examination and discuss lymphocytosis.
You can revert with flow cytometry once done.
I hope this helps.
