Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a fit and healthy 18-year-old girl. I do a lot of physical activity and follow a healthy diet. However, when I measured my blood pressure multiple times under proper conditions, it was high, with an average of 134/73. I also wanted to add that I have poor circulation and am always cold. I also have nosebleeds frequently. I have taken the tablet Ponstan for period pain, but not on a regular basis. What could cause high blood pressure?

Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Your blood pressure is not much high. Diastolic blood pressure is completely within the limit, and systolic blood pressure is slightly high, above 130. There is nothing much to worry about.

I suggest the below lifestyle measures:

  1. Continue doing regular exercise.
  2. Avoid a sedentary lifestyle.
  3. Use potassium salt in your diet instead of sodium.
  4. Regularly check blood pressure at home.
  5. For excess cold, check your serum TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) level.

There is no further testing needed as of now.

I hope this helps.

Take care.
