Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My husband is 30 years old, and his BP is 130/90 mmHg. He used to work with his laptop for long hours, and right now, he is not doing any such exercise. I am worried about his health. Also, I want to know if he is suffering from high BP.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I thoroughly read your query and understand your concern. The following are suggested measures to control BP (blood pressure). The following are general measures that apply to all. Avoid smoking and other addictions. Reduce salt intake in the diet. Reduce fatty foods, junk foods, and saturated fats. Avoid stress and anxiety. Do regular moderate-intensity exercise such as brisk walking for 30 minutes. Have proper night sleep, at least eight hours per 24 hours including at least six hours of uninterrupted sleep at night. Reduce weight even if the weight is within the normal range. Drink plenty of water. Do deep breathing exercises and meditation. Measure the BP while totally relaxed, and sit for five minutes in a quiet room without talking to anyone. Empty bowel and bladder before checking BP. Avoid tea or coffee 30 minutes before checking BP. Sit on a chair with feet on the ground, back supported, hand supported on the table, and cuff at the position of the heart. Check BP, and repeat after five minutes again. Then check BP in the other arm and repeat after five minutes. During the entire period remain relaxed and quiet. Arm with higher BP readings is your BP. You may take at least two or more readings, and the average of readings is your actual BP. Hope this has addressed your concern. Kind regards.
