Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My blood sugar level is 30 mg/dL. What can I do and how can I increase my blood sugar level?

Answered by Dr. Suneetha B S

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Low blood sugar level needs attention quickly. I suggest you go to the nearest healthcare facility as soon as possible. Low blood sugar can be due to many different reasons. It could vary with the time of the day when you check your blood sugar level. Blood sugar level keeps changing, and it is not constant. Hence, it cannot be 30 mg/dL throughout the day. Since you have not given any other history, it is difficult to understand your condition better. People who are on treatment for diabetes may experience low blood sugar levels if the dosage of the medicine is not correct and it needs to be changed. Sometimes an inadvertent extra dose of medication could be a reason for low blood sugar level. If you are on any drug that lowers the blood sugar level, then you need to report to your doctor as soon as possible so that the doctor can make suitable adjustments to your medication. If you are a healthy individual with no clinical condition or treatment, then you may need to regulate your eating habits and eat smaller meals more frequently. If your blood sugar level goes down often, you might also need to undergo a hormonal evaluation to see why it is happening.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
