Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My uncle is having constant chest pain and stomach ache. His hemoglobin level is 6.20 mg/dL; platelet count is 598000 per mcL and ESR is 60 mm/hour. What is causing his symptoms? I am attaching my uncle's blood reports.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

  1. After going through your uncle's reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity), your uncle's hemoglobin is low, and platelet count is raised.
  2. A peripheral smear examination has to be done. If the peripheral smear is suspicious, then further workup needs to be done.
  3. For stomach and chest pain, chest X-ray and USG (ultrasonography) should be done.
  4. For gastritis induced stomach pain, tablet Pantoprazole should be given for two weeks. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and start the medicines after their consent.
  5. Sometimes, gastritis like condition can lead to referred pain in the chest. Avoid gastric irritants like excess tea, coffee, meat, smoking, etc.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
