Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I cannot get to sleep due to a racking cough and have stuffy nose and headache as I take Apixaban blood thinner. I do not know what medication to take to treat this. Currently taking Apixaban, Bisoprolol, and Amlodipine.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

This is likely a result of upper respiratory infection or allergic manifestations. Firstly, it is better to get examined by a local practitioner for throat and nose examination for signs of infection. You will need and should get prescribed antibiotic like capsule Augmentin 625 mg thrice a day along with some antacid like tablet Pantoprazole 40 mg once a day before breakfast for five days. For symptomatic relief, antiallergic medicine like tablet Allegra 120 mg once a day preferably bedtime till this resolves. Also, for cough syrup like Alex 2 teaspoon SOS will be helpful. For a stuffy nose, you may use Xylometazoline nasal drops, a drop in each nostril SOS. Also, avoid using over-the-counter other than Paracetamol like Ibuprofen, Diclofenac. Paracetamol may be used 650 mg three times a day accordingly.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
