Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am experiencing muscle aches on the left side of my body and noticed sudden swelling on the left side of my thyroid. Additionally, I have pain on the left side of my body. The blood report indicates severe vitamin D deficiency, while the thyroid report is normal. The cause of the swelling is currently unknown. I am currently undergoing treatment with Arachitol injections for the vitamin deficiency. In addition, I am taking antibiotics and steroids for the swelling. What can cause this swelling?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern. I have reviewed your reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), and it indicates that you have an enlarged left thyroid gland and a small nodule. The ultrasound report indicates that since it is a TI-RADS (Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System) 3, it is likely a benign nodule. The report suggests a 95 % chance of it being benign, and a simple FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) can confirm this. The cause is unknown, and FNAC will provide further insight into the situation. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

I would like to understand the meaning of suggestive of thyroiditis. Kindly explain it.

Answered by Dr. Shaikh Sadaf

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Suggestive of thyroiditis means inflammation in the thyroid gland. If this is inflammation, it will also be confirmed through a biopsy, and there is no need to worry. I suggest you undergo a thyroid function test after the biopsy. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you
