Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 32-year-old man. I have been suffering from recurrent boils and folliculitis on and around my butt area for two months. It comes and goes. Sometimes, it lasts for three days and sometimes seven days, but never more than that. This time I got one on my hipline and it lasted for around three weeks. Since then I got more on the other side which again lasted for around two to three weeks. The size of the first one was approximately 7 mm. At present, there are two on the left side and one on the right.

Surprisingly, one day I was unable to sit properly because of pain, and the next day there was no pain this continued for some days and then I got relief for three to five days and suddenly felt pain the very next day. They occur almost at the same place. I suffer from tiny ones from time to time, but they vanish in three to five days and are never an issue. Also, I sit for a prolonged period of time all day long. I have heard that it happens because of that as well. Is it true? I do not want antibiotics. Can it be cured without them? How do I make sure if it is caused by bacteria or something else?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

There are small boils around the anal area, and recurrent formation, and inflammation mostly occur in the anal fistula. But it needs physical examination to know the exact diagnosis. Prolonged sitting, driving two-wheelers, and chronic constipation as these are the causes of anal fistula. Inflammation and recurrent boils around the butt area may also be due to an allergic condition. We need more details about this and pictures of the affected areas to know better diagnosis and treatment.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Actually, it is in the butt area and not the anal area. I am unable to sit as well. I am not sure about pus. I suffer from constipation and I strain a lot. I have a sedentary life and I sit for a prolonged period of time. In fact, I sit for around eight to 10 hours straight in a day. Regarding the picture, I am unable to get a picture of it as it is in a very awkward position. All the observation mentioned here are all done by touching it. So, what would you suggest now? I contacted one more Ayurvedic practitioner and she prescribed some blood purifier syrup and something to remove excess pitta.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If it is not around the anal area then it might be a simple boil. Sometimes it happens due to continuous sitting in the same position. There is need to improve your bowel clearance and walk in between your sedentary schedule. You need to put something on the chair to facilitate air circulation and prevent excess perspiration. Wear cotton undergarments and clothes. Also, keep the area neat and clean. I suggest you take the following Ayurvedic medicines.

  1. Kaishore Guggulu (Gokshuru, Amruta, Guduchi, Tryushana) two tablets.
  2. Panchatikta Ghrita Guggulu two tablets.
  3. Avipattikar Churna (Nimba, Patola, Vyaghri) 0.11 oz. Take the above three twice a day with warm water after meals.
  4. Sarivadyasava (Mustaka, Haritaki, Padmaka) one tablespoon twice a day in equal amounts of water after meals.
  5. Jatyadi Oil (Sariva, Tuthya, Sesame Oil) for external application only.

Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and with their consent take the above medicines.

Preventive measures include the following:

  1. Avoid spicy and junk foods.
  2. Drink plenty of water.
  3. Eat fibrous foods and fruits as well as green leafy vegetables.
  4. Do regular yoga, especially Kapalbhati, Mandukasana, and Ardha Matsyendrasana and exercise. It helps to improve your metabolism.
  5. Do these things and provide your valuable feedback in 10 days.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
