A bone biopsy is a technique in which bone specimens are extracted to discover if cancer or additional abnormal cells are present. A bone biopsy simulates the external layers of bone, and a bone marrow biopsy implicates the innermost portion of the bone. It is of two types: open biopsy and needle biopsy.
