Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had unprotected sex with my partner. But he did not ejaculate inside me. I took I-pill after two days of sex. I had brown discharge after four days. I had my last period after three days of having brown discharge. Do I need to take a pregnancy test?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Though your partner did not ejaculate inside, there are many cases showing precum of males causing pregnancy. As you have taken an emergency contraceptive pill, it reduces your chances of having a pregnancy. As you had brown discharge after four days of taking emergency contraceptive pills, then it likely caused withdrawal bleeding. Emergency contraceptive pills can cause an early or delayed period in certain females. If your flow and duration are the same as your previous period, then there is nothing to be worried. You are unlikely to be pregnant. If you want to take a urine pregnancy test, then it is fine to take. Kindly do a urine pregnancy test with the first urine of the day for having accurate results. Do not drink much fluid prior to the test. Kindly adhere to the guidelines written on the package of the pregnancy kit. Based on the outcome of a pregnancy test, we can decide upon further management of your menstrual health.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
