Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had my last period two months back. Then I had unprotected intercourse in the first week of this month. But I took an emergency contraceptive pill after 20 minutes of unprotected intercourse. And for relief, I took a urine pregnancy test from my first urine of the day on the same day, which came out negative, and after that, we got intimate. Yesterday morning, I noticed some dark brown spots on my undergarments but felt no symptoms like nausea, fatigue, cramps, or breast soreness. Is this a sign of implantation bleeding? Are these signs of pregnancy? Or Is it due to the pill?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

Previously, I had unprotected intercourse four months back, and I also got my withdrawal bleeding after 5 to 10 days due to the contraceptive pill. Then, I got my periods normal in the next two months. But after that, I missed my period date. I have no pain at all and no symptoms. But the brown spotting is exactly after ten days.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Do not worry. As there is no unprotected vaginal intercourse after the last period date, there is no chance of getting pregnant in the last month when you missed your period. The delay in periods last month may be due to some hormone disturbance due to stress or other factors. You took the emergency contraceptive pill within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse, so the brownish spotting without pain that started after ten days is withdrawal bleeding only. No implantation bleeding at all. The normal flow will start within a few days.

Hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
