Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My rib cage feels bruised and hurts when I touch it or stretch. Currently, I am on antidepressants. What could be the reason for my discomfort?

Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

The discomfort can be due to a muscle spasm unless an injury occurs.

I suggest the below treatment plan:

  • Do hot fomentations twice daily.
  • Apply an analgesic ointment externally.
  • Tablet Ibuprofen 400 mg twice daily after food for ten days.
  • Tablet Rabeprazole 20 mg once daily before food for ten days.
  • Tablet Shelcal (Calcium and Cholecalciferol) 500 mg once daily before food for 30 days.
  • Tablet Vitamin D (60000 IU) once daily for ten days, followed by one tablet every month for 11 months.

I suggest you take tablets only if you are not allergic to them. Do not take them if you have bronchial asthma. Also, follow up immediately if there is an untoward reaction. (Consult a specialist doctor, talk to him or her, and start the medicines with their consent).

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
