Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

A lump has developed on my uvula. I went to the doctor, who diagnosed me with an ulcer and prescribed medicines. He said it would go away in five weeks. The antibiotics made it slightly smaller, and my neck is also mildly sore, but I have observed that it is not painful or unbearable. Could it be an ulcer or a cyst or something? Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query,

I have gone through your reports (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). The nodule on the uvula does not appear to be malignant. It is more of an inflammatory process in your case. Also, there is congestion in your pharyngeal wall, So infection leads to that inflammation leading to nodule formation. I would advise continue taking antibiotics and gargling with warm water and betadine. It will disappear in some time.

Please follow up for further assistances.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply,

Is there anything I could be doing that I could stop doing to ensure the healing of my uvula or anything else that might be prolonging it?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query,

There are some home remedies you can try like keeping a piece of dry ginger in your mouth, steam inhalation, hold an ice in your mouth, and lozenges. You can also take over-the-counter antihistamines which may decrease the inflammation around the nodule and the size of the nodule will decrease automatically.

Please follow up for further assistances.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply,

I will attach some images of my lump of post-antibiotics. Kindly, have a look at it.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query,

As I can see, there is some improvement in inflammation post antibiotics. You can complete the course of antibiotics. And also, you can take antihistamines for the nodule.

Thank you.
