Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 24 years old, and I have had small pimple-like lesions on my pubic area for the past one month. They are not painful, so I did not use any medications.

Can you please suggest me a treatment for this?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

Multiple factors and conditions lead to the formation of pimples in a private area. And the possible diagnosis can be,

1. Pearly penile papules, which are harmless white papules on the penis and glans penis, appear as a result of a normal phenomenon. They usually do not require any treatment.

2. Fordyce spots are tiny white papules that are harmless, do not require treatment, and may appear on and off.

3. Candida balanitis is a fungal infection affecting the glans penis, and foreskin, leading to red to white scaly lesions or pimple-like lesions, which may be asymptomatic and may also present with itching, burning sensation, pain, etc. They require treatment with topical and oral medication.

4. Balanitis are inflammatory condition affecting the glans penis, and foreskin, which may be due to fungal, bacterial, eczematous, or autoimmune conditions, etc., and may require treatment for weeks to months for recovery.

5. Folliculitis is a bacterial infection affecting the hair-containing region of the private area.

6. Genital warts or HPV (human papillomavirus) are viral infections affecting the pubic and private areas, which may require procedures to get rid of the lesions. And topical and oral medications may help for the same as well.

Although these are the differential diagnosis for the conditions, you have mentioned. I suggest you to provide an image of the affected area to inspect the lesions to assess the severity and type of lesion for a confirmatory diagnosis and further management. Without an image, it may be difficult to provide a confirmatory diagnosis and appropriate management for the same.

Kindly revert with the images for further management.

I hope this has helped you.

Take care.
