Hi doctor,
I have three boils on my pubic region. I just traveled, and while getting back, I started getting this. I shaved this area with an old razor, I think, and used towels from the hotel and common toilets. Currently, I am applying antiseptic cream. Can you diagnose online if I send the picture?

It is an erosion or ulcer in the pubic region with a secondary bacterial infection. Apply T-bact ointment (Mupirocin ointment) twice daily for ten days. Clean the area with Povidone-iodine (antiseptic solution) and cotton daily for two weeks and then apply cream or ointment with clean hands. Avoid scratching and rubbing of lesions. Avoid shaving with old razors. Take Tablet Ciprofloxacin (Ciplox) 500 mg once a day after food for five days. Maintain proper hygiene. Avoid sharing personal belongings. Keep towels clean. Avoid the use of contaminated belongings. Are you diabetic? I hope this helps. Kindly revert with the answer.

It will take two weeks to heal. Do not worry. Follow-up after two weeks. Maintain proper genital hygiene. Clean area with Episoft cleanser or non-soap cleanser or Cetaphil cleanser daily.

Thank you for your reply. Can I use Fucidin (Fusidic acid) ointment instead of what you suggested, as I am using it already? Is it a must for me to start antibiotics, or can I avoid them for now? If so, can I use Norflox TZ (Norfloxacin 4000 mg and Tinidazole 600 mg) or Moxclan 625 (Amoxicillin 500 mg and Clavulanic acid 125 mg) as I have them already with me? Why will it take two weeks? I am worried because I am traveling again. So your sure it is nothing else? Can I have sex, or do I have to avoid it for now? Please advise on the tablets and other options. Thank you.

Yes, you can use Fucidin cream instead if you have it. Taking tablet Norflox is also fine. Yes, healing will take few weeks, for about 1 to 3 weeks. Episoft cleanser or no soap cleanser is a mild or gentle cleanser to clean genitals. Avoid sex until the lesion heals. Practice safe sex. Use barriers. I hope this helps. Thanks and regards.
