What are the possible causes of painless raised bumps on the pubic area?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I noticed some small raised bumps on the pubic area. They are completely painless and do not itch or cause any discomfort. I noticed them after shaving one day. I scratched one open by accident, and it bled. I had all three of the HPV shots. Can it still be warts? I have had the same partner for about a year, and he has no bumps.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It seems to be molluscum contagiosum, caused by the molluscum contagiosum virus. In these lesions, central umbilication (a depression similar to that of the navel at the center of any lesion) is present in each lesion, and a white body is inside the bump. It is contagious, and STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) can spread and form new lesions. So you need to rule out immunosuppression by doing certain tests like HbsAg (hepatitis B surface antigen), anti-HCV (hepatitis C virus), VDRL (venereal disease research laboratory) for syphilis, HIV (human immunodeficiency virus), and blood sugar.

Your treatment plan may include needling to extrude the material inside. TCA (trichloroacetic acid) cautery is the best option in your case, or I suggest trying Tretinoin cream 0.025 % local applications during the night for two weeks. However, please consult a physician, discuss with them and start taking the medications with their consent.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and take care.
