Hello doctor,

I have bumps at the back of my throat near the tonsil on the left side. It looks lumpy and entirely different from another side. These bumps developed about a week post COVID. Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for writing, and I can understand your concern. From your statement, it is clear that you suffer from tonsillitis caused by bacterial infection. So, antibiotic treatment must be given. As you mentioned that you have a history of COVID-19 infection (Coronavirus Disease-2019), I request you to confirm that you are negative for COVID. Kindly answer the following to help you better; 1) During COVID-positive, did you have severe symptoms or only mild symptoms? 2) Are you allergic to any antibiotics? 3) Do you have any pain in the throat while swallowing? Thanks.

The Probable causes

Infection.

Differential diagnosis

COVID-19.

Probable diagnosis

Tonsillitis.

Treatment plan

Antibiotics.

Preventive measures

Drink hot drinks.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am negative for COVID. My symptoms were terrible, but I was never hospitalized for them. I do not have pain when swallowing. And I am not allergic to any antibiotics. Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You need not worry. I suggest you to take the following medications and revert after five days. 1) Tablet Augmentin (Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid) 625 mg three times a day after meal. 2) Tablet Pantoprazole (antacid) 40 mg once a day before breakfast. 3) Tablet Vitamin B complex (nutritional supplement) once daily before sleeping. Avoid cold beverages, and kindly drink lukewarm water and hot drinks frequently. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,
