Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My urine pus cells are six to eight/hpf, epithelial cells are two to four/hpf. My general practitioner suggested antibiotics. Should I go for it?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I reviewed your text. If you do not have symptoms like pain or burning while urination, then there is no need to take antibiotics. Yes, if you got previously mentioned symptoms with a test like this, you can take antibiotics for one week and do an ultrasound scan on follow-up. If you have any more queries, please do not hesitate to ask.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Here are the full details. I was feeling pain right beside the right side of my navel. I felt the pain only if I pressed that area. I have attached the first physical observation of my general practitioner and also my ultrasound and other reports. I always worry about my health. So, could you please let me know if I should start Cefixime Trihydrate 200 mg for seven days which the doctor prescribed? Or any other advice you might have.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The ultrasound is normal (attachment removed to protect patient's identity). There is no apparent urinary cause of WBC (white blood cells), and the epithelial cells can casually be in the urine. There are no stones or blockage to your urinary system. The cause of pain beside the right of the naval area is still unexplained. As a urologist, I advise you to see a general surgeon regarding the pain and get a proper diagnosis before taking antibiotics.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
