The calf is the back portion of the lower leg. Calf pain occurs as a dull, aching, or sharp pain with tightness in the lower leg. The causes are overworking, cramps, injuries, sciatica, and contusion. Calf pain can also occur with other symptoms like swelling, unusual coolness, tingling, fluid retention, redness, and warmth of the calf. It needs medical attention depending on the cause.
