Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 25 years old and I want to consult with a gynecologist to ask about my periods and follicle size. I missed my period five days ago from last month. I am taking a Q folic tablet regularly and planning for a baby. Five months have passed, but I have not conceived yet. History of medication for the same complaint: Primolut N.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
Thanks for sharing all the details. Here is a helpful summary of your situation and what steps you can take next.
Your Situation:
You are 25 years old, trying to conceive for five months.
Irregular periods (delayed last month by one and a half months).
Took Primolut N (a hormone to induce periods).
Now, your period is five days late, again.
You are taking folic acid (Q-Folic), which is great when trying for a baby.
What could be happening:
Irregular ovulation – If you are not ovulating regularly, it is harder to conceive.
Hormonal imbalance – Conditions like PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) or thyroid issues can cause delayed periods.
Stress or weight changes – These can affect your cycle, too.
You could be pregnant this month – Consider doing a pregnancy test now.
Next steps:
Take a urine pregnancy test now. You are five-plus days late, so it is the right time to test.
Check your follicle size and ovulation. Ask your gynecologist for a follicular study (ultrasound monitoring) between days 10 and 16 of your cycle. It shows if your ovaries are releasing eggs properly and what the follicle size is. A mature follicle ready to ovulate is usually 18 to 24 mm.
Blood tests may help, too. Ask your doctor about: AMH (anti-mullerian hormone), FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone), LH (luteinizing hormone) for ovarian function, TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone), and prolactin.
PCOS screening if you have irregular cycles and other signs like acne or facial hair.
Keep taking folic acid. That is good for both fertility and a healthy pregnancy start.
Would you like help writing a message to your gynecologist or understanding what a follicular scan report means? I can also help you track ovulation naturally if you are not doing follicle scans yet.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
