Patient's Query

Sir, These are the following health issues: 1) Had lower back pain 8 months back which persisted for 6 weeks - Got lot of blood tests like CBC LFT KFT ESR C-REACTIVE and whole back X-RAY including legs done and all were normal and OK. 2) Had headache 6 months back for 3 weeks- Got MRI for brain and whole Spine done and both were normal. 3) Had abdomen pain 6 months back for 1 months with little blood in stool and then a series of blood tests like CBC LFT ESR C-REACTIVE, KFT and many more were done and whole Abdomen ultrasound, Whole Abdomen CT scan with contrast, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy and MRI fistulogram were done and everything was normal.

And now I am not experiencing any health issue. Do you think I am perfectly fine as all my body parts are scanned ?. As I was worried about possible cancer. I did blood tests in reputed labs like Dr. Lal path labs and CT scans and X rays and MRIs in reputed hospitals.

Hi!

It seems from your query that you are going through great anxiety and may be even psychological distress because of the fever of possible cancer. I understand your situation. You have mentioned that all the investigations are normal and you got them done from reputed places. On this I would like to know, as to why do you still feel concern about cancer?

Moreover, a tiny cancer somewhere in the body cannot be picked up by any test. So there is no test that is definitive in saying one has cancer or not. So, maybe we can discuss if there is any specific problem that concerns you. Otherwise I feel you do not have any test suggesting cancer so you can carry on with a healthy lifestyle. Feel free to share and discuss the reports of your investigations, which I am assuming to be normal on your saying so. Regards.

Patient's Query

Please ignore this file . It was sent by mistake I had visited numerous doctors like gastroenterology, neurologist and orthopaedic and all ruled out this possibility. But somebody suggested to take opinion of cancer specialist. Sir, definitely all the reports are normal. Please consider these files Sir, what I believe is that any cancer is uncontrolled growth of cell and against which antibodies will fight. ESR, WBC or C reactive protein must be high. Also, since CT scan in my case detected 2mm stone. So, even small material can be detected. All my body parts are covered with Scans and none of the blood tests are abnormal. If there is no abnormalities detected in my body ...then I believe I am OK.

I believe you that all your reports are normal. Also, you should not worry about cancer in your body. However, as a matter of principle, you must realize that there is no single foolproof single test that would be sufficient to rule out the possibility of cancer. Along with that, it is not required for most people to undergo repeated tests to find small cancers. This kind of screening approach is used only for certain cancers and only in people having high risk of cancer. So, unless one is at high risk of developing some particular cancer, there is no recommendation to unnecessarily do very many tests. All these tests pick up cancer only after it has grown to some particular size, generally more than 1cm. So, please relax for now and you need not ungo these tests again, unless you are having some symptoms. hope it helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
