Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I wanted to consult about the sores on the upper and lower cheek of my son, which he got after wearing braces. The sores are about half an inch long and four in number. I consulted the orthodontist, but he is saying it is normal. Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Upon review, these were the findings. Correction of spaces in upper front teeth region being done. Correction of overjet and overbite is being done. The redness on the cheek may be due to the wire component running to the back tooth. It may be due to the metal of the wire (some people do have such a metal effect) or the wire causing the injury. If the braces run all through the back teeth, some amount of cheek injury may be reduced, but it makes the treatment duration longer. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
