Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have two small (one in both eyes) spots or pimples on my eyelid rim. One is in the upper, and one is in the lower eyelid rim. My husband says they look a bit like blackheads (pimples). These appeared overnight around a week ago as I had never had them before. They are located just where the Meibomian glands would be present. What can these tiny spots be? I have no other symptoms in my eyes, and I had my eyes and sight checked at a local eye doctor six months ago, and they were fine. What should I do? Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query carefully, and I have seen the pictures attached (attachments have been removed to protect the patient's privacy). Yes, they are at the Meibomian gland location. Oversecretion of these sebaceous glands (Meibomian gland or glands of Zeis and Moll) can cause these small pimple-like cysts. You must do warm compresses over both your eyes daily morning and evening for one week. You can start with eye ointment Azithromycin locally over eyelid margins at night time for one week. Any lubricating eye drop available at your place should be put in the eyes three times a day for one month. You can follow up after two weeks. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
