Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Whenever I do extreme hand movement or take a deep breath, I feel a slight pain in the left upper chest for the last few days. I used to smoke daily, and I work in a highly polluted area.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Any pain in the chest should not be neglected. You may not have any major problems, but it is always better to be safe than sorry. Sometimes, even gastric irritation or acidity can present with chest pain. But I would advise you to visit a doctor as soon as possible and get a complete cardiac evaluation done.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Can you tell which doctor should I consult? Should I see a general physician or any specialist? I am always confused with the big names of specialists. And also, what is the approximate cost associated with complete cardiac evaluation, and what includes that?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It would be best if you preferably visited a cardiologist for cardiac evaluation. To begin with, you could visit a general practitioner who will be able to examine you initially and decide whether you really need a cardiologist's opinion. As I said earlier, acidity and gastritis can also present with chest pain. So the doctor can examine you and decide the future steps to be taken.

A complete cardiac evaluation is usually done under the guidance of a cardiologist. Initially, ECG will be done, which will cost you very less. Further tests like heart scan, treadmill test, some blood tests, etc., may be done only if there is any abnormality in the ECG. The other tests may cost a little higher than ECG. But that will be done only if any abnormality is detected.

So I advise you to first visit a doctor in your locality for a proper examination and diagnosis.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
