Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had my gallbladder removed almost six months back. However, I am still having the same sharp stabbing pain in my chest and back. I also have fatigue and nausea. I went to the ER two nights ago. They advised me to undergo an EKG, stress test, liver and kidney function tests and other blood tests. The results of all the tests were normal. Initially, I thought I had a pancreatic problem, but the doctors said it was normal. So, I think it may be due to blocked bile ducts. Please give your expert opinion regarding the same. I am currently taking medicines for the heart problem and diabetes.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. I think it is gastritis and reflux disease. To alleviate your condition, it's advisable to steer clear of spicy and fatty foods, and to abstain from smoking and alcohol if applicable. Consistency in your sleep schedule and incorporating regular exercise into your routine are crucial. Opt for a post-meal walk instead of immediate rest. Considering your symptoms, I recommend taking an acid suppressant such as Pan DSR 40 mg (Pantoprazole) before breakfast daily for a two-week span. However, it's vital to engage with a specialist, discuss your situation, and secure their approval before initiating the medication. If there's a suspicion of pancreatitis, considering serum lipase and amylase tests, as well as repeating the pancreas ultrasound, is prudent. In the case of a suspected blocked bile duct, conduct tests for jaundice, elevated alkaline phosphatase, and increased GGT (Gamma-glutamyltransferase) to address any uncertainties. Consulting a medical professional is crucial for comprehensive guidance.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
