Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 40 years old. Two years back, my blood and cholesterol levels were normal. My blood pressure is mostly 125/85 mm Hg. I had a sharp pain that lasted 1 to 2 minutes yesterday. The first pain was about 45 seconds, and then 30 seconds later, I had another 45 seconds of pain. It was like someone was scaring a sharp pain across my chest from one nipple area to the other. It has not happened again. I get tingling in my fingers and a tight muscle feeling in my left arm during walking or running. I have seen a physiotherapist, and they have said it is due to nerve entrapment and tight muscles on the left arm and left neck. I have been doing stretching exercises, and it seems like it is getting less now. I am a hairdresser, and I get very tight muscles in my neck and back due to work. What to do? Please help. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

When did you experience the pain? Are you a known smoker, or do you often consume alcohol? Do you have a family history of heart diseases? I suggest you do an ECG (electrocardiography), lipid profile test, and fasting blood sugar test as soon as you can. Your weight puts you at risk of coronary artery disease. Although you might have a nerve entanglement, it is necessary to ensure it has nothing related to your heart. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

My cholesterol was done two years ago and was normal. I have attached my ECG report. The pain does not go to other parts. It is in the arm, and if I try and stretch the arm, the muscle feel very stiff compared to the right arm. Like when your leg muscle is very tight. My blood sugar test was done two months ago, which was normal. I smoked nine years ago and I only drink socially, but have not drunk for five months. Please advise.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

A cholesterol test done more than six months ago is no longer valid. As such, you must repeat the lipid profile test. The ECG you attached is normal, but I advise you to do a new one as well. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
