How to prevent future health problems in males with obesity?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Dear doctor,

I am a 32-year-old male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, and I weigh 120 kg (about 265 lbs). I recently had blood tests done and would like your advice on preventive health care and any preventive medications I might need. I have been obese since birth, and there is a family history of obesity. I do not have any other health complaints right now. My diet is lacto-vegetarian, and I am currently taking Vitamin D supplements. I am not on any other medications. Please review my blood test results and provide a detailed analysis. I would appreciate your guidance on how to prevent future health problems and reduce any risks.

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com!

We’re here to help you.

After reviewing your reports (attachments were removed to protect the patient's identity), we found two main issues: an abnormal lipid profile (unhealthy cholesterol levels) and a vitamin D deficiency. We recommend you keep taking your vitamin D supplements and work with your doctor to manage your abnormal lipid profile. It’s important to manage your weight by avoiding fatty foods and eating things like potatoes, rice, oils, ghee, sweets, and soda in moderation. If you smoke or drink alcohol, it’s best to stop. Your doctor might suggest a combination of Atorvastatin and Fenofibrate to help with your abnormal lipid profile. You should get your cholesterol checked again after a month. This advice is meant to help you, but please talk to your doctor before starting any new medications.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert so I can assist you further.

Thank you.
