Cholecystectomy

Cholecystectomy is the surgical removal of the gall bladder. Traditional open methods or newer laparoscopic methods can be used based on the need for surgery. Gallbladder removal is done in case of gall stones, presence of infection, or in case of cancer. Risk factors of this surgery are bleeding, infection, injury to the bile duct or liver, etc.
