Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 19-year-old athlete. I have been feeling an itchy sensation when my body gets heated, stressed, or doing any type of exercise but I do not have any hives. I have been feeling this for over a year now. Usually it comes and goes, but now it started to get strong. I stopped doing sports or any kind of exercise and trying to stay in cool places. I need to find a cure for that as I want to get back to normal.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

From your history about the concern, it seems like you have a mild condition of cholinergic urticaria. Cholinergic urticaria is nothing but developing itching or, in some cases, itchy bumps when there is a rise in body temperature. I want you to answer a few more queries for establishing my diagnosis. When is the onset of this condition? At what age did you start experiencing this? Do you have any known allergies like dust allergies, frequent episodes of cold or running nose? Do you have any relevant family history of allergies? Are you on any chronic medication? There is no need to panic as this resolves after a few or several years on itself. The main thing to do is avoid the triggering factor, like avoiding spicy and hot food, exercising in an air-conditioned room to a level where your body can tolerate the heat, avoiding hot showers, and not over clothing yourself. It would also be advised to be on oral anti-histamines meant for itching until each episode subsides. Also, apply sunscreen twice in the morning and afternoon, even in the winter season, as ultraviolet rays are active even in the cold season. Kindly revert with the answers to my questions to guide through this and advise a few medical tests to perform.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
