Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have flat brown or tanned spots on the lower left leg for the past two years. It itches very rarely. It is much flat. It was due to rubbing or scratching. Currently, I am taking tablet Amlodipine, tablet Benazepril, tablet Satin 10 mg for cholesterol and acid reflux medications. My last dermatologist visit was before six years ago.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the attachment (attachment removed to protect patient identity). I can see a scaly, red patch. It seems like a chronic eczematous dermatitis patch perhaps psoriasis. I suggest you use a moisturizer over that area. In addition, I suggest you apply a potent topical steroid ointment Clobetasol propionate 0.05 % (Clobestol topical) ointment or Halobetasol propionate 0.05 % ointment, twice daily. Do you have scaly patches elsewhere like scalp, knee, elbow or back?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have only one spot like that. Does it look like cancerous?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It could be precancerous. I would like to rule out the possibility of Bowen's disease. Bowen's initially resemble eczema. It is like SCC (squamous cell carcinoma) in situ.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
