Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am having pain at the end of urination, but the pain is not excruciating. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The pain at the end of urination is likely due to inflammation of the prostate. Chronic inflammation of the prostate can happen at a young age and presents symptoms like pain at the base of the penis or area between testis and anus, pain at the end of urination, or burning while urinating. Diagnosis can be established by rectal examination of prostate and semen culture. Treatment is by antibiotics, but treatment for prostatitis will be for six weeks; hence choosing proper antibiotics is essential. Please follow up with semen culture so I can choose the proper antibiotic for you.

If you have any more queries, please do not hesitate to ask.

Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

What causes something like that to happen?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Sometimes sexually transmitted and other causes are not known (idiopathic causes) in most of the cases. Chronic urinary tract infections, urethral strictures, instrumentation after the procedure can cause it as well. In addition, rarely seeding infection from the circulation can affect the prostate. The majority of cases are idiopathic, and chronic proper antibiotic choice is better to prevent antibiotic resistance.

Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

It is a sharp pain in the belly button region only at the end of urination. Is it possibly muscle-related? I have been lifting heavy objects for the last two days, and it started yesterday.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The belly button pain is related to muscle and exercise, but burning urination could not be due to activity. The muscle pain will resolve in a week then you can observe your symptoms. If burning during urination is not resolving, then go ahead with semen culture.

Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

It is not a burning pain but a sharp pain right at the end of the stream, which lasts maybe three seconds, and I feel it in my lower abdomen.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If only sharp and sudden pain it might be pelvic floor muscle as at the end of urination we usually squeeze the pelvic floor muscles and those muscles are deep surrounding the prostate so suggestion is to try avoid weight lifting. Allow your muscles to heal and hopefully pain will go away. So wait for a week and see how it goes.

Please update me about your condition.

Hope all is well.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
