Chymotrypsin

Chymotrypsin is an enzyme produced by the pancreas which is used in the small intestine to help digest proteins. The enzyme is also used to help make medicines. Chymotrypsin is also used to reduce redness and swelling caused by surgery or infection and help promote wound healing and tissue repair, aids digestion and help loosen phlegm in individuals who have asthma, bronchitis, or sinus infections. However, Chymotrypsin may cause allergic reactions in some people, causing itching, shortness of breath, or loss of consciousness.
