Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I would like to consult for my son. He is 6 years old and did circumcision last week on Thursday. His wound is getting better, but I discover an unusual thing. First, the line under his penis is not a straight line to the part. Second, the penis hole looks horizontal instead of vertical. I am afraid that the doctor who did surgery made a mistake and cause a penis torsion? Please advice. Is this something normal that can happen during the healing process? Will it get back to normal? I can send pictures too if you want to check.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I noted the history you gave and reviewed the attached pictures (attachment removed to protect patient identity). I think it is healing well. There is a slough on the penis which will be coming out soon. The hole of the penis is normal. What you need to do is, sitz bath which means put clean and warm water in a tub and add a few drops of Dettol three to four drops then make your son sit 15 - 20 minutes. Do this practice twice daily, it heals to soften the wound and remove the slough. Keep the wound dry and clean. If he was not given antibiotic, then let me know so I can prescribe one for him. He will need to follow up after four to five days to see the progress of healing.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
