Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had an adult circumcision due to persistent candida balanitis two months ago, and I have been experiencing continuous pain on the scar line for five weeks after the surgery. The discomfort went away when the wound healed a little, and I was painless for five days. But when I had first masturbated after that, I started experiencing extreme pain in the same area where it was hurting before.

Currently, it has been hurting for three weeks and did not get better. The wound looks normal.

My surgeon told me that it was probably a nerve pain and added that the nerves were not healed completely, and my masturbation re-injured it.

I wanted to ask whether it is a possibility. Why did it not heal even after two months?

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for the query. It is not true that nerves never heal. Nerves will heal, but it takes some time. As it is causing pain for an extended period, I guess it to be a neuroma. Do you feel a node or a lump?

I hope it will not hurt you anymore. Kindly take tablet Pregabalin 75 mg once a daily at night.

Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

There is no lump or node; it looks like a normal scar. But I experience constant pain, and the pain messes up with my daily activities. The type of pain is stabbing and burning. The urologist said it would take time and prescribed Ibuprofen, but it does not work.

Do you think that it was healing, and I re-injured it?

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, your surgeon might be right, and it is true. You had a nerve injury, and when it regenerated, there might be a neuroma.

1) Is the pain present on the incision site, or is it at the root of the penis or elsewhere?

2) Is it painful only when the penis is erect or even at rest there is pain?

3) Do you have pain while urinating?

Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

I have pain when erect and flaccid. The pain is on the incision line, and it is constant. I will try the medicine that you recommended.

How long does it take to heal? Because it has been three weeks already.

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Yes, I hope you will be relieved. If you can tolerate the medication, you can take it twice daily. Nerve regeneration can take more than ten weeks.

Take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

The traumatized nerve heals within ten weeks, but if it is a neuroma, then how to treat it?

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Neuroma on the penis is rare, and only surgery will help if there is a lump. If there is no lump or nodes, we will maximize our medications for pain.

I hope the pain goes away.

Regards.
