Hello doctor,
I had an HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) test after 51 days of exposure, which was non-reactive. In the report, it is written as a CMIA (Chemiluminescent Microparticle Immuno Assay) test. So I want to know, is CMIA HIV test 4th generation or 3rd generation in nature? Does it check for both antigen and antibody or only anti-HIV antibody?

Thank you for your query. The report does not mention whether it detects HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) antigen and antibodies or only HIV antibodies (attachment removed to protect patient's identity). Anyway, it does not matter for 51 days test. It is good that the test is negative. The chances of HIV tests coming positive later are almost nil. But I suggest you go for an HIV antibodies test after three months of exposure to be relieved of anxiety and for conclusive results.

I have been extremely worried for the past two days. I want to know if rapid tests can also be 4th generation in nature.
They will deliver my report within three to four hours. Does it say anything about what generation test was conducted?

It is not mentioned in the report (attatchment removed to protect patient's identity). You need not worry. Get HIV antibodies test done after three months of exposure.
