Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My son is 1.8 years old. He has a cold and cough since today morning. I got the infection by exposure to a cool breeze. I also have a cough and cold but no fever, and I am using antibiotics.

He is also not having a fever, and he is on Paracetamol already due to teething pain. He had his mother's milk until 14 months of age and now also taking packet milk in bottles. Kindly let me know some medicine for his continuous cough and cold, which he got through me. Right now, I am giving him Paracetamol for the past four days for his teething pain. Do I need to continue it until the teeth come. Please suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Please give the child syrup Levolin (Levosalbuamol) (dose as per the weight of the child) twice a day for the cough for five to seven days and syrup Montair LC (Montelukast and Levocetirizine) kid (dose as per the weight of the child) once at night for ten days for the cold.

You can do nebulization with Duolin (1/2 respule) and 2 ml normal saline thrice a day and Budecort (1/2 respule) and 2 ml normal Saline twice a day if it is very severe along with the above medications. Please mention the weight of the child so that I can tell you the exact dosage.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

My baby's weight is 26.46 lbs. It is a normal infection cough and cold that he got from me. I am giving him Paracetamol 3 ml twice a day for his teething pain. Shall I continue it, or should I discontinue it and give this medication?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You can continue Paracetamol (for teething pain). Also, use teether for giving comfort. The teether can be placed in the fridge when not in use.

Regarding the weight, the dose of Levolin will be 3.5 ml twice a day and Montair LC kid 3.5 ml at night for the duration as advised.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
