Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My son is eight months old. He recently had a cold and cough, and he recovered after a course of antibiotics. It has not even been two days since I stopped all his medicines; he has a running nose again. What shall I do now? With no doctors available, I am just worried if it becomes a full-fledged cold and cough again. Can you please help me?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Can you please provide me the following details:

  1. Is there any fever now?
  2. Is the child feeding well and is active?
  3. Is he passing urine normally?
  4. What treatment did you give him earlier, and for how many days?
  5. Is there any difficulty in breathing or fast breathing?

If these things are fine, you need not worry much.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply. He is active, playing well, feeding normally, and his urine count is normal. There is no fever and difficulty in breathing. I had given him Augmentin suspension 228 mg/5 ml - 3 ml twice daily for five days, syrup Kofarest -PD 1.5 ml thrice daily, tablet Lasma for five days as prescribed by the doctor. I am worried if this running nose will turn into the full-fledged cold with phlegm. I do not want him to fall sick again. Can you please tell me what medication I can give him?

Answered by Dr. Payas Joshi

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Please do not worry. It is a common cold. Give him Maxtra oral drops (Chlorpheniramine Maleate 2 mg/ml and Phenylephrine 5mg/ml ) 0.5ml a day thrice for three days, and he will be fine.

If there is no improvement in 36 to 48 hours, feel free to contact me.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have Sinarest AF, Alerid 5 mg, and Monticope. Will any of these work, or do I need to buy what you have suggested?

Answered by Dr. Payas Joshi
