Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My brother got a CT contrast done after cold symptoms. He has a history of smoking. His COVID report is negative. Kindly check the CT and advise.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for writing, and I understand your concern.

I have gone through your reports, and there were some changes in the left upper lobe of the lung and right lower lobe lung. As it is mentioned in CT that only a few changes are seen and can be due to COVID. But you mentioned his COVID reports are negative, so I would like to ask. Did you do the COVID test before CT? Or after? The chances can be due to infection and are not severe, and your brother does not have any severe symptoms, so do not worry. Can you please tell me what medicine he is taking currently? Does he have a cough or difficulty in breathing?

Please let me know.

The Probable causes

Infection.

Investigations to be done

CT was done and shows fibrotic changes and simple cyst.

Differential diagnosis

COVID.

Probable diagnosis

Cold.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

He has just taking Paracetamol. The COVID test was done after CT. Is his fibrosis reversible? What are the causes of ground glass densities?

Answered by Dr. Sugreev Singh

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It does not cause symptoms in some people, and with the help of medicine, they do not increase. And yes can resolve. First, due to infection, pus or mucus is formed and then cysts, and later on, when it becomes hard or dry, it takes place as fibrosis. And 2/25 means the only very little area is involved. The other lung area is healthy. If COVID is negative, I would suggest you do tuberculosis (TB) test. You can do sputum AFB (acid-fast bacillus) and Mantoux test to rule out tuberculosis. Apart from that, everything looks normal.

You can add:

Tablet Multivitamin 500 mg once a day after meal for ten days.

Tablet Azithromycin 500 mg once a day after meal for three days.

Tablet Pantop (Pantoprazole) 40 mg once a day before meal for three days.

And let me know if anything else.

Since when is your brother sick?

Does he have any history of tuberculosis?

The Probable causes

Infection.

Investigations to be done

CT was done.

Differential diagnosis

COVID.

Probable diagnosis

Cold.

Treatment plan

Tablet Azithromycin 500 mg once a day. Tablet Multivitamin 500 mg once a day. Tablet Pantop (Pantoprazole) 40 mg once a day.

Preventive measures

Please do not eat anything cold.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
