Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

In the follicle study, both ovaries had eggs, and those were in good size, but I did not get pregnant. What is the reason? The egg size was 19*21 and 18*19. I use to take Ovacare, Cystova, Reflam, and Progesterone. I am attaching the study. Kindly help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Usually, multiple follicles start developing from day nine of the cycle, and one follicle from either side reaches dominant follicle size (around 15 to 18 mm). And around day 15 to 17, one dominant follicle releases the ovum (this is seen on the scan as the presence of fluid in the pouch of Douglas or POD). Only if the ovum is released, fertilization with sperm and pregnancy occurs. In the follicular study, you have sent me (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), follicle development was good till day 13, with one of your ovaries having a dominant follicle (DF), but even by day 17, the dominant follicle did not release the ovum (as the scan shows the presence of follicle on both side and no fluid in the pouch of Douglas). Hence ovum release has not occurred in this cycle. Hence pregnancy has not occurred. Also, kindly tell me the following:

1) Have you taken any ovulation induction drugs during your cycle?

2) Was any injection given on the thirteenth day?

I hope this was helpful. In case of any doubts regarding the difficulty in conception, kindly revert back with your reports.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
