Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Could I be pregnant if I had unprotected sex for three days leading up to my period (my period started the next day after three days of unprotected sex). My period in the next month was not normal as I was bleeding for a couple of hours, then it stopped for a few hours, and this continued for three days, and now my period is late by two days.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

This description seems more likely about your menstrual history that you are getting periods regularly, but there is a mild difference every time.

Days before the menstrual cycle are not fertile if you have been experiencing regular cycles, so it is less likely to get pregnant. But it is better to be safe and have a blood pregnancy test (serum beta hCG) to check your pregnancy status and be calm. Two to three days of irregularity could occur but may need an investigation.

If the blood pregnancy test comes negative (more likely), have menstrual induction with the tablet Primolut-N 10 mg (Norethisterone) twice daily for five days and wait one to two weeks. However, please consult a physician, discuss with them, and start taking the medications with their consent. Your next cycle could be irregular, but afterward should be back to the previous pace as soon as the body gets rid of externally induced medicine.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and take care.
