Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 33-years-old, and lately, I have had blood and mucus in my stool. I have constipation due to my horrible diet. However, now my stool has no blood and mucus anymore but is thinner than usual. Can all this be due to being constipated? I feel fine other than my stool. There is no weight loss, no cramps, no history of colon cancer in the family or anything.

I am just trying to figure out of I should worry or not. First, the blood was bright red, but it was gone, and no more mucus. Now it is just thinner but normal-looking in color. Can constipation and a bad diet cause this? should I be worried or not?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As per the medical history provided by you, we need to know if there is any pain in the anus during motions? There is a need to rule out any issues at the anus like hemorrhoids or anal fissure, which requires a physical examination by a surgeon since it can come back again once you are constipated.

Keep your diet clean. Include lots of greens in your diet and drink lots of water.

Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

There is no pain during going to the bathroom. Do you think it is cancer? Or do you think it is just constipation problems that go away with water and a good diet?

Answered by Dr. R. Rahul

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

As you mentioned, you do not have any history of cancer in your family goes against cancer. Secondly, bowel cancer is common in older people with a change in bowel habits as the initial symptom. Lastly, it could be an anal fissure. Kindly confirm with a surgeon if it is not resolved with these methods, then we can go for further investigations like cancer or ulcerative colitis.

Having a clean diet is very important to avoid many medical conditions.

Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Can anal fissures cause mucus in stool and thin stool? So I should worry about diet and water for now? Will that make it go away on its own?

Answered by Dr. R. Rahul

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, that is what I am trying to say. A diet rich in fiber like cucumber, banana, and food like rice will add bulk to the stool. Constipation should be avoided. It should go away on its own, but if trouble persists, then the additional investigation will have to be done.

Thanks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
